Wax

Wax produced by the bee has a dual purpose: it covers the chitinous shell, protecting bees from moisture, and serves as a material for the construction of honeycombs.

The main properties of beeswax, giving it special value - plasticity, softening under low heat, gas and water resistance, electrical insulating ability and chemical resistance.

The composition of the wax includes up to 15 different substances belonging to the following groups:

  • esters of 70.4 at 74.7%;
  • free fatty acids 13.5-15%;
  • saturated hydrocarbons 12.5-15.5%.
